Dinner set for eight (8). The set is made by WEDGWOOD in Gold Damask pattern. It is hallmarked at the bottom. The pattern was made between 1966 and 1972. 8 (eight) Dinner Plates – 10 3/4 in diameter. 8 (eight) Luncheon/Salad Plates – 8 1/8 in diameter. 8 (eight) Bread and Butter Plates- 6 in diameter. The set is beautiful. It will make a wonderful gift or will be a great addition to any vintage china collection. The set is in perfect vintage condition with no cracks or crazing. It is as new, I cannot see any marks or damages. Please refer to the pictures. Actual color may differ from the photo due to lighting conditions. I have more pieces of this pattern. Fine Antiques & Collectibles. Worcester Plate With Hand Painted Flowers by Freeman. A luxurious mid 20th century Royal Worcester plate with the full gold damask border. The central vignette is painted with flowers in the 18th century style by John Freeman, and the panel is signed. These gorgeous gold decorated plates were only produced for a relatively short period, probably due to the huge cost. They can be found painted with fruit and flowers and on occasion a different subject. The plate has the gold Worcester mark and foot rim to the reverse. A lovely cabinet plate for the collector. Some minor wear and two glaze scratches near the Freeman signature visible on inspection. 6 Handsome Bone China Dinner Plates from Wedgwood’s greatly admired Gold Damask collection. When relatives leased him the Ivy House in Burslem in 1759, Josiah Wedgwood started his own pottery business. His new venture was helped by his marriage to a distant cousin, Sarah, who brought a substantial dowry with her. In 1765, Wedgwood created a new earthenware form, Queenss Ware. In 1766, he developed new wares Basalt and Jasper Ware, perhaps his most famous creation. He was elected a member of The Royal Society in 1783. Today, the Wedgwood Prestige Collection sells replicas of some of the original designs, in addition to modern neo-classical style Jasperware. In 1812, Wedgwood produced their own bone china, which, although not successful at first, became an important part of an extremely successful business. The skill and artistry that is apparent in every detail of the plates bears eloquent testimony to the legendary quality of the Wedgwood potters. Stunning Gold Damask decoration features intricate flowers and foliage in lavish gold. Gilt finish to the plate rims is bright and intact. The plates, which measure 10.75/27.5cms in diameter, are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing, and produce that wonderfully satisfying’PING'; ringing like a bell!!
