This is a very rare set of 12 Cauldon dessert plates. CA early 1900 s. Decoraterd by COULDON STOKE ON TRENT ENGLAND. This pattern was created by Cauldon exclusively for W. Plummer & Company, whose store was located in turn-of-the-century New York City; their back stamp. Plummer were retailers who catered to a wealthier client. In 1859, or thereabouts, a totally new system of numbering was evolved based on letter prefixes. As before, printed patterns. The above dates are based on dates in the surviving pattern books held at the Wedgwood Museum. The dates indicate when patterns were first introduced and do not relate to the actual year of manufacture of a particular piece.
