An opulently decorated set of 12 antique Belle Epoch dinner plates, 10 3/8 diameters with a broad band of cream against white porcelain, and both encrusted and hand painted raised gold enamel work – all in excellent condition and ready for your table or hutch display. Rare to find a full set of 12 in a raised gold enamel pattern. This one is versatile, can be dressed up or down with mix-match of other complimenting porcelain dinnerware. I love a mixed-matched table, myself. The set was made by Minton and crafted specifically for market through one of NYC’s most lauded Belle Epoch purveyors of luxury goods: Davis Collamore & Co, located at 5th Avenue and 48th Street, NYC. Belle Epoch, or “The Golden Age” was one of richness, elegance, excess and luxury. The dates would be c. Minton, arguably England’s finest maker. Very good to excellent condition throughout for age and type. These are superb, really. Thick encrusted gold rim and accent band, all without loss or damage. Delicate hand applied gold enamel and raised enamel elevates the richness. I do not find any flaws to note, and they are remarkably free of any utensil or use marks – possibly just stored or cabinet displayed for over a century. Some of those NYC mansions had sets of 100 or more, of course, and this might well have been stored and rarely if ever put on table. Remarkably clear, no scrapes or loss to the gold work.
