Exquisite Decorative GDA (Gerard, Dufraisseix & Abbot), Hand Painted TRAY w/2 Handles, Realistic RED, Green & Black GRAPES. DESCRIPTION: This features a large spray of realistic red, green, and black grapes with green leaves and trendrils. All of the painting is enhanced by light washes of yellow & red. There are grey ghost grapes to give depth to the painting. The smooth rim & the molded, reticulated handles are painted in a broad, bold gold. The artist signed the back with the initials I. CONDITION: The condition of this decorative tray is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There is no rubbing to the gold except on the underside of the handles (probably due to stacking). There are no chips, nicks, cracks, other rubbings, scratches or hairlines. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. DIMENSIONS: The elegant tray has a diameter of 6 7/8″ and a height of 1 7/16″ to the top of the handle. Handle to handle, the measurement is 9 HISTORY/MARKS: Charles Field Haviland was the nephew of David Haviland. Charles Field, in 1858, married Loiuse Alluaud, the granddaughter of the Alluaud porcelain family. In 1876 management of the firm was entrusted to Charles Field Haviland and the potterys name was changed prior to his retirement in 1881. This item was manufactured by GDA (Gerard, Dufaisseix & Abbot) at their Rue De Nexon pottery in Limoges, France. This is one of the successor to the CFH pottery. It has the green GDA/France backstamp which came into effect with the new partnership between Emile Gerard – Director, Jean-Baptiste Dufraisseix – Decorator, and Edgar Abbot – the colour technician in 1900 and continued in use until 1941.
