This set of 11 Hutschenreuther Selb Bavaria dinner plates is a stunning example of early 20th century art deco design. Made in Germany between 1925 and 1939, these porcelain Ivory bone china plates feature a Greek key decorative edge and flower pattern in gold and black with gold edge encrusted details. Each plate measures 10 5/8″ in diameter and 1″ in height, making them a perfect cabinet plate or for special occasions. These antique plates are in excellent condition, with no signs of wear or damage. NONE of them have utensil scratch marks at all so I believe they were just kept in a cabinet and not used. They are hand-painted and have a glossy finish, some have what appears to be a gold dot of paint on them. And are underneath the gloss. I have included a close up picture of one that has several of these paint spots on them. I have taken a picture of each plate, so you can see that ALL of them are in SUPERB CONDITION! All but one has the Hutschenreuther Selb lion mark on it and they all have handwritten in gold: 1924 77. I’m not sure if the 1924 is supposed to represent the year they were made and the 77 represents the pattern number? I wasn’t able to find specific information about that. They each weigh one pound 4 ounces, and will be carefully packaged to insure safe arrival. They would make a perfect addition to any collection, cabinet display or holiday entertaining table setting. A superb example of high quality German porcelain at its finest! The values of these vintage plates just continues to increase.
