These very fine pair of dinner plates/ chargers have lovely contemporary ARMORIALS with the LATIN MOTTO’ nec temere nec timide’ meaning: Neither rashly nor timidly. There is a very bold and crisp cast GADROONED BORDER. The reverse has original HAND HAMMERING marks. THESE LOVELY HEAVY QUALITY DINNER PLATES HAVE THEIR ORIGINAL VERMEIL/DEEP HONEY GILDING. Each dinner plate is clearly marked to the reverse for WILLIAM FOUNTAIN, LONDON 1812. Additionally BOTH plates have their ORIGINAL SCRATCH WEIGHTS of 19.5 troy ounces & 18.19 troy ounces respectively. Each dinner plates measures approx. 9.75 inches (24.5cm) across and the combined weight of both is 1,136 GRAMS or 36.52 troy ounces. CONDITION : LOVELY CONDITION, VERY CRISP GADROONING, NO REPAIRS, NO DAMAGE, NO ERASURES. ARMORIALS ARE LOVELY AND CRISP. VERMEIL GOLD WASH IS UNWORN. Needs a good polish.
