Circa 1891 set of 8 Coalport, England china dinner plates. H-e-a-v-y gold band with swagged garlands and drop flowers. Central lacy gold medallion is very stately and looked great in my breakfront. MARKING: in underglaze color of blueish green is a crown with words England, Coalport, A. Marked in brown: “Made Expressly for Hardy & Hayes Co, Pittsburg ” which is how I can date the plates. You can check on Wikipedia. All plates have a number at the rim: “6393/B”, this was so the company knew what employee used how much gold on the pieces they made. There is also the remnants of a sticker (bronze in color) by the repairer on the one plate… SIZE: 10.25 in diameter, or dinner plate size. CONDITION: see condition report above and pictures.
