Superb porcelain cabinet plate with delicate bouquet of colorful hand painted flowers in the center. It is artist signed P. Curnock for Percy Curnock, one of the longest serving artists at the Doulton factory from 1885 until his retirement in 1954. Percy was a floral and scenic painter and regarded as one of the outstanding ceramic artists in the country. Flowers were long a specialty of his and his blooms were remarkably real – from the Doulton Collectors Club website. The border is decorated with six red cartouches having gold gilt urns highlighted with raised designs. It has the Royal Doulton factory mark on the reverse, as shown. Age – Circa 1885 – 1954. 10 + 1/2 inches in diameter. Condition – Age appropriate, we find no chips or cracks, just one very small surface blemish in the glaze on the reverse as shown, see photos for complete assessment.
