This set of Minton, Stoke-on-Trent, England, master-gilder service or dinner plates feature six 22-karat gold-beaded panels, three cream and three turquoise, each decorated with ornate and elaborate ornaments composed of flowers, laurel, lotuses, and foliate. The plates are further enhanced by a center lozenge of a flower on turquoise ground, surrounded by rings of laurel and foliate. Minton was well-know to have some of the best if not the best gold gilders, plates of this complexity were gilded by master gilders, who left their initial on the back. Having a baker’s dozen of these plates is nice in case there is breakage. Pattern H4968, one of Minton’s famous “G” and “H” patterns of heavily gilded raised paste 22-karat gold porcelain plates.
