Here we have exquisite “antique” reproduction porcelain dinner plates from Mottadeheh in the Duke of Gloucester pattern from their Williamsburg museum reproductions series. According to Mottadeheh, This extraordinary pattern, featuring twenty colors and 22k gold, is one of the finest manifestations of the Rococo style. The design incorporates colorful fruit and imaginary insects within a rim of green enamel and gold flecking. The dinner service was originally made for William Henry, Duke of Gloucester, circa 1770. Please see our store for other pieces available in this luxurious pattern, including dinner plates in the other three pattern variations, cup and saucer sets, and a pitcher. Pattern Variation D: Note that there are four slightly different fruit & insect pattern variations within this pattern. Mottadeheh sells the dinner plates in sets of four only, with one plate in each of the four variations, so there is no official variation designation. This one, which we are referring to as Variation D, has five blue and purple prunes/plums at the middle of the central motif, on one of which is perched a large butterfly. But wait, it gets even more complicated! Vintage: this pattern has been in production since 1996. Approximate Measurements: 10 diameter. Condition : Our photos show the condition best and are the most important part of the description. Please enlarge them, zoom in on them, and reach out to us if you need more information. Overall excellent to near-mint condition, with no actual signs of having been used other than, at most, a few light colorless scratches to the glaze that can only be seen when the plate is held up to direct light at an angle. Not all of the plates even have those. Bright white, rich color, and very clean. No chips, fleabites, cracks, hairlines, crazing, utensil marks, stains, or repairs. We never grade older, used or possibly used items as “mint, ” so the highest grade we will offer any vintage item is near-mint. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we’ll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us. If you’re unable to pay within terms, please reach out with your Plan B. We’re delighted to work with communicators. Silence is not golden in this situation. Let’s see if we can’t fix things.
