Donath Levinsohn Dresden Style Hand Painted Floral & Gold 9 3/4 Inch Plate Nice porcelain dinner plate. Decorated with hand painted pink roses in the center framed by pink, purple, orange, blue, red, and yellow floral swags and intertwined gold gilt leaves. With gold diamond and scrollwork border. Gold gilding along the edge. Marked on the reverse with an underglaze blue crown above an S mark. This mark was used by P Donath’s Silesian Porcelain Factory in Teifenfurth between 1896 and 1922. Also has an overglaze blue crossed rapier mark. This mark is similar to one that was used by P Donath & Louis Levinsohn Silesian Porcelain Factory between 1883 and 1916. This is probably the P Donath and Levinsohn mark. The documented mark is a crossed rapier with an S. They probably applied the rapiers without the S since the mark was being placed directly below the underglaze crown S mark. Has a lot of wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 9 3/4 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
