Each plate is decorated with hand painted flowers in the center in pink, white, dark pink, blue violet and yellow. The central flowers vary between plates With a fancy hand painted gold gilt floral and Rococo scrollwork border with a scrollwork vignette with a gold monogrammed W in the center. Each plate is marked on the reverse J. L France in green. This is an underglaze whiteware mark used by Jean Pouyat in Limoges France between 1890 and 1930. Also marked Wm Guerin & Co Limoges France in blue underneath. This is an overglaze decorator’s mark was used by William Guerin in Limoges France between 1900 and 1932. These all have a lot of wear to the gilding, but are otherwise in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Each plate measures approximately 9 5/8 inches wide. These are antiques and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the pieces.

These are in antique condition and do have some scratches in the dishes and in the gold trim. 11 8 1/2 Dinner Plates (2 with small chips in the rim). 12 7 1/2 Salad/Dessert Plates (2 with chips, one in top rim and one underneath at the rim). 5 3 3/8 Berry Bowls. 9 5 1/8 Berry Bowl Under-plates (2 with small chips in the rim). 7 3 1/4 Teacups (1 with 2 chips in the rim, 1 with a small chip at base of handle). 11 5 3/8 Saucers. 11 2 Finger Bowls (1 with chip in the rim).

4 Hand Painted Gold Encrusted Floral Monogram Dinner Plates Charles Ahrenfeldt. Beautiful, large dinner plates measuring 10.5 inches diameter. Double gold gilt panels make up the border with hand painted insets of multicolor florals. Center monogram in floral script appears to EDT. They are also marked with a CAR Fabrique en France mark. The foot of the plate is also painted in gilt. I believe these plates were part of a service from the property from the Thomson House, 5th Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, built by Thomas Chalmers Darsie, by descent to Anne Darsie Thomson then to Robert Thomson. In 2014 gifted to Chatham University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Condition is excellent and the gilt and enamel florals are in very nice condition. Please view all the photos. One grouping from an estate set of dinnerware, all very similarly decorated and all with the same elegant gold hand painted monogram, “BGG”, this is a set of 12 late 1800s plates by Tessemanes & Vogt (Limoges), France, fine porcelain and enriched with hand applied gold enamel borders. Also, the smaller sized dinner plates (less than 10) date to 1800s, and enlarged through 1900s. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, there is 1 plate which has a flashing chip on the rim, shown in detail on our photos, and looks like it can be touched up and still used in a pinch, but 11 are in fine condition. They seem to have been very nicely stored these 130 or so years, and show little evidence of actual use like utensil marks or the crazing one occasionally finds. A very pretty and old set!
